Home/Capabilities

Three capabilities, one process you can audit

Mold making, CNC machining and prototype tooling run side by side in our Dongguan workshop. Every project moves through the same eight gates, and every gate leaves a record you can request.

What we do

Pick the route your program needs

Most customers start with one of these three routes. If you are unsure, send drawings and target volume — we will tell you which route costs less over your project life.

Mold Making

2-plate and 3-plate injection molds, hot runner systems, hardened inserts. Built for 100k to 1M+ shot programs.

How the three routes compare

The numbers below are the ranges we quote most often. Your part geometry and surface spec move the figures — the point is that you get a stated number, not a “depends”.

The same eight gates

Every route follows this sequence

  1. DFM reviewDay 1–3

We return a marked-up report on wall thickness, draft, gate location and tolerance stack before any steel is cut.

  2. Quote and scheduleDay 3

Line-item price, lead time per stage and a named project engineer.

  3. Steel and materialDay 4–8

Certificates filed against your order number before machining starts.

  4. Rough and finish machiningDay 9–26

CNC, EDM and wire cut, with in-process checks logged per operation.

  5. Fitting and assemblyDay 27–34

Spotting, water-line test, hot runner wiring and ejector timing.

  6. TryoutDay 35–40

Press trial with your resin, sample parts photographed and measured.

  7. InspectionDay 40–43

CMM dimensional report and first article inspection against your drawing.

  8. Shipping and handoverDay 44–45

Packing list, spare parts list, process sheet and inspection pack in one file transfer.

Day ranges reflect a typical single-cavity tool. Multi-cavity, hot runner and textured tools extend the later stages.

Questions we get

Capability questions, answered

What is the difference between mold making and CNC machining at Jingcheng?

Mold making is a project: we build a hardened steel tool that then produces parts in a press. CNC machining is a service: we cut finished parts directly from billet, plate or bar stock. Both run on the same shop floor and share the same CMM inspection records, so you can order a tool and its first production parts from one supplier.

Can you quote mold making and CNC machining together?

Yes. Send 2D drawings plus 3D models and tell us the target annual volume. We return one quotation covering the tool, the trial run and the machined parts, with lead time stated per line item.

How do I know which route is cheaper over my program?

Compare total cost, not unit price. Below roughly 5,000 parts a machined route usually wins; above that the tool amortises and injection molding takes over. Prototype tooling sits between the two and is worth it when you need real molded samples for validation.

Do you work from our drawings or redesign the part?

We build to your drawings. When a feature will not mold or machine reliably we mark it on the DFM report and propose the smallest change that fixes it — the decision stays with your engineering team.
